Rislone is a long-running automotive chemical brand. On its website, Rislone describes its Diesel DEF Treatment (8 oz, part #4780) as a product that helps prevent the formation and buildup of white crystal deposits in the SCR system. Rislone lists the dose as 1 ounce per gallon of DEF, so the 8 oz bottle treats up to 8 gallons.
Rislone also sells a separate product, DEF Crystal Clean, which it markets as a cleaner for white crystal deposits that have already formed. That is a different job from a preventive treatment, and Rislone sells it as a different bottle.
What NüDef Is
NüDef DEF Treatment, Additive & Stabilizer is a DEF stabilizer and anti-scaling agent. Per its label, it helps prevent DEF crystallization and helps protect the SCR system, DEF tank, pump and injector, which helps avoid downtime and costly repairs. The sell sheet adds that it helps prevent freezing.
NüDef is a preventive treatment. It is not a cleaner and it does not clear fault codes. One 8 oz bottle treats up to 25 gallons of DEF, used at every refill. NüDef is for use with ISO 22241 / API certified DEF. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
